default presentation evening

Post by gaz1889 on 2/5/2015, 12:44

Well, what a fantastic night! First time I've bothered to attend one of these events but certainly won't be the last. We turned up about 8 o'clock expecting a handful of players & officials in a subdued atmosphere but was pleasantly surprised to find the complete opposite.....in fact it was virtually standing room only so we made do with sitting on the sofas at the back of the room next to the strippers (who turned out to be the ladies team) sorry girls!
It was a real pleasure to mix freely with all the players, management, officials, unofficials, supporters & everyone connected with the club. The only downside was Mike Hale breaking his back carrying all his awards around.
I admit I was a bit critical on here of how things seemed to be heading in the run up to Christmas but I'm delighted to have been proved wrong by an unbelievable transformation on the pitch.
I can honestly say I feel honoured, privileged & humbled to be associated with such a fantastic setup on & off the pitch.....the number of people who put so much paid & mostly unpaid effort into this club is quite staggering hence my feelings of humility....I'm not going to start naming names for fear of omitting anyone but you know who you all are, so a massive well done & thank you from me

Great shout Gaz! It was good to see more supporters there last night,it's our club after all. It was a good night & as you said it's good to be able to mix freely with the players, officials & other fans.
Roll on 2015/16! Lets hope that we can keep hold of the majority of this season's squad (if not all of it!)

Thoroughly agree with everything said here! Feeling it today but well worth it.

Sounds like I missed a good one, it's always good to mix. #OneCityOneClub

Any news on pre-season games?

I see from twitter that Blackpool are hoping to play us pre-season. How likely is it that they'll be able to raise a team? (Or maybe I misread it and they are hoping to play us in the Evo Stik?)

Well they have signed Rivers from Blyth Spartans, a remarkably early signing for Blackpool...expect a lot of kids/trialists.

They all said that about Jamie Vardy, look at him now. There's plenty of talent in Non-League if you look hard enough.

I made no reference to Rivers ability. Merely that business had been done before the end of May.

Whatever the age of the team we face, it'll be Blackpool's first team. In other words, we've actually got a proper non-"XI" friendly.
