We move on to Harrogate Rail: with Rail having a poor season we would probably win there nine times out of ten but will the players be too bothered about two days later? Hopefully Phil will keep them focussed.

Congratulations on a great result today and especially to Zach "Messi" Clark. Smile

If we can convince every side we play from now to the end of the season to only play for 45 minutes & during those 45 minutes only to convert around 20% of the chances they create into goals then we may have a chance. I don't think that we should let yesterday's scoreline overshadow the fact that we could easily have been 4 or 5 -1 down by half time, Ossett simply didn't compete in the second half.It was a great effort to (finally!) score a few goals, & hats off to Zach, who looked a threat throughout the game. Also good to see us create a few chances for a change.Long may it last!

Totally agree.I don't think anyone on the ground at half time would have thought that we would score five in the second half or that Osssett would throw in the towel so quickly. It was really good to see us actually convert chances for a change, but Zach isn't going to get that much freedom every week and teams aren't going to let us play as much as Ossett did. Still very much an outside chance if we win all of our remaining games. BTW it looks like Warrington's title now as Northwich look like having 9 points deducted.

Not out of the question. Our remaining games are against 21st, 18th, 1st, 16th, 11th, 17th twice and bottom twice.

Based on average points per game, and assuming the first four places are sorted, the contenders for the fifth place SHOULD finish as follows: Clitheroe 72 pts.Burscough 71,Bamber Bridge 67, Farsley and Mossley 66. Statistically,we should finish on 62. However,as DTID has rightly pointed out, we have a "relatively" easy run-in, and should win at least seven more games.Assuming 5 points dropped vs Warrington and Mossley, this would give us 71 points and still in with a chance. As the saying goes, you have to speculate to accumulate, and that's a lot of speculation.

What's happened at Droylsden, have all their backers pulled out? We managed just two 1-1 draws against them (and a cup defeat), yet at the moment they seem in worse nick than New Mills!

The games against Droylsden will be the most costly this season. The 4 points dropped and the £3000 (I think?) we could have won for beating them in the FA Cup earlier in the season.

Too many draws will ultimately scuttle our playoff ambitions. I'll be happily proved wrong if we go on a massive winning streak until the end of the season, but I just don't see it happening.

The dream lives on! Based on the number of points gained per number of games played, ours is 1.73. This is the 7th best in the league so perfectly reflects our current position.

The problem is that if the three teams above us were to win all their games in hand, (not actually possible as some have to play each other), Burscough would have 63 points, Clitheroe 68 and Northwich 76, all considerably ahead of City's 55.

I guess all we can do is hope our present good run of form continues and hope others drop points, starting with Harrogate Railway taking something off Burscough tonight. Looking at our remaining fixtures, this coming Saturday looks the most difficult match.

Unfortunately Burscough won last night, which doesn't help our cause. Saturday would seem to be a must win game now, and that would be a real boost, but we probably need to win all 7.
