Kendal Town (a)

A game where I felt we never really had to break sweat or get out of second gear too often. Granted Kendal may feel that they deserved more out of the game and that perhaps they should've got at least a goal but I was always in mind that if necessary we could always step it up if need be, and that with our possesion, especially in the final third, we could, and perhaps should've had a couple more goals. Players rested, possibly with Saturday in mind, and also with the injuries we currently have it gave one or two much needed game time. An assured and professional performance and safely through to the next round. Good to see a number of our players, not down to play, come to watch and also a strong following from our fans for Kendal's biggest gate of the season in a match that happily went without incident. Charlie Bailey, I thought, looked decent, which will do him the world of good, while Steve Williams just carried on from his Saturday display with an assured performance and looks a real threat at set pieces. Hannu looked busy up front and perhaps deserved a goal while Craig Carney ran the middle of the park. I was also interested to see how one of the Kendal lads, Paul Dawson, played. A Lancaster lad who is still only 18, he was released by Morecambe in the summer yet he played right through the City junior set up and lives on West Road. I felt he did OK so perhaps one there that PB could take another look at.

Thanks for the report Jimmy. Can you post the team please? We seem to have enough players for two teams nowadays so it will be interesting to see the ones chosen.

Thanks very much. It's a big squad we're carrying then: 16 players named above plus Cheetham, Wood, Wills, Clark, S. Bailey, Sumner, Steel and Hudson, by my reckoning. Hope Phil can do his best to keep as many of them as possible happy. And of course that there are enough funds in the bank.
