Hit the bar

Would the result have been the same if that first-half header from New Mills had gone in instead of hitting the bar?

Your reply does not take into account that before we scored we were essentially second best.

Ur not taking into account that New Mills defensively were atrocious and we would have scored at some point.

I think today showed why New Mills have conceded 5 against Cammell Laird, 4 against Kendal, 7 against Prescot, 4 against Farsley. But as you point out that effort against the bar and initial attacking promise shows how they managed to score 4 against Burscough, 5 against Kendal, 4 against Harrogate RA, 3 against FC United. So yeah it might have been more competitive but they didn't score and Lancaster took control.
New Mills back 4 may not be the worlds most mobile but they weren't helped by being given almost no protection by their midfield. So open. Garry Hunter enjoyed himself today, and obviously Tom Ince showed his class.

Just to mention Neil Marshall today, not only defying Docs orders after Tuesday but playing tremendously well.

We would still have won.South of the river wrote:Would the result have been the same if that first-half header from New Mills had gone in instead of hitting the bar?
Absolute gulf in class between the teams today. I thought before we scored we still looked the better side.
All aboard the coach to Rammy!

Top showing today.Good to see Tom Ince settling in, think he will be a quality signing for us. No weak links today. Ben Hudson did well covering for Glenn Steel, Garry Hunter outstanding, Marshie immense playing so soon after his serious injury, Mike Hale exudes confidence that transfers to the rest of the defense. However my MOTM today was Killer, never stopped working, deserved a goal

Tom K and Tom I both played very well, but the genius pulling the strings throughout was my MOTM, Jacko. Nine out of ten, at least.
