Looking forward to this one should be an interesting game in front of a decent crowd, time to return to winning ways

Well you were half right.themaclad wrote:Looking forward to this one should be an interesting game in front of a decent crowd, time to return to winning ways
Good crowd, dull game. Thought we shaded it on actually forcing their keeper into a couple of saves whilst they didn't have a shot on target that I can remember?
And yet we couldn't beat a poor Mossley side on two occasions. Figure that one out.

First half a modicum of entertainment, second half dull as dishwater, two sides who didn't want to lose and didn't

Yep. Two sides coming off a bad run of form with confidence both low. It showed.themaclad wrote:First half a modicum of entertainment, second half dull as dishwater, two sides who didn't want to lose and didn't

Darlo are a footballing side, and so we compete with them on level terms. Mossley, and a number of other sides in our league, such as Clitheroe, play long ball, route one stuff, and its very crudity takes us unawares--we don't know how to overcome it. The difference showed today especially in our defending, where our centre backs were able to deal with players running at them, as compared with Mossley where, especially as we missed Glenn Steel's height, we were undone by the big hoof over the top.LFC-LCFC wrote:Well you were half right.themaclad wrote:Looking forward to this one should be an interesting game in front of a decent crowd, time to return to winning ways

Our lads played really well but Darlo were very well organised at the back and we just couldn't get through. But Darlo looked even less likely to score against us. We defended really well even without Steel or Henry, and our midfield were very competitive. Mahoney worked really hard - good to see - though one of his shots is probably still in orbit.
Even though the football was not that exciting, the experience was great. Nearly 600 spectators, with fantastic noise from the Dolly choir completely drowning out the Darlo fans.
Surprised Ince wasn't playing - is he unfit?
