Last Minute Winner keeps us in the Race!!!

Young Scores with second's to go to get the points and remain in second spot!!!

We welcomed Blackpool Wren Rovers Ladies to the Giant Axe for this league fixture, Wrens on the back of there midweek win which seen them nudge into 2nd place by one point, so we knew this was always going to be a hard fought game

The game started cagey with both teams looking to get an early foothold, 10 mins in a throw in from Jenny MacDonald into Kayleigh Young at the 18yd line balled played across the line a dummy from Jess Weston found Emma Gardner who hit a left foot shot across the keeper and put away into the right corner , we had found the breakthrough and were on top and things started to go our way,

18mins in and a move down the left started by Mel Woodend into Jess Weston passed into Kayleigh Young played in front of the Wrens back line found Alison Capstick who took the ball around the full back and finished low to the left hand side giving us a 2 - 0 lead, Knowing that the next goal would be all important both teams pushed on but both teams attacks found the goalkeepers on top and the scoreline remained the same at half time.

We asked the team to continue what we had been doing and a further chance would come, we needed to keep our concentration and just react a little quicker, five minutes in and Blackpool found a way back into the game a suspicion of handball (the referee waved play on) and the striker was one on one, Lucy Tyson got down to the low shot but it somehow wriggled underneath her 2 - 1, this seemed to effect us more and we started to rush things and our passing was off Player of the Match Lucy Tyson got to everything that was put at her with calmness and confidence and was keeping us on top with a slender lead.

87mins gone Wrens pulled it level with a run down the left cut inside and powered the ball home from close range, we looked out of it and looking at sharing the spoils of the day which on our second half performance was a fair result, on asking the referee how long to go his reply was 30seconds Lucy Tyson had the ball played it to Emma Gardner in the right back position and Wrens caught up field looking for the winner Gardner played a long ball down the right Kayleigh Young latched onto it cut inside the box and fired a shot across the keeper and it nestled into the left corner YYYEEEEEESSSSS the winner and all three points to push us back into 2nd place
